Roots of Christian Mysticism - Session 10 The Spanish Mystics By Julienne McLean

Product Description

Many of the key themes of Carmelite spirituality are expressed throughout the writings of the two great Spanish Carmelite saints, Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross - Elijah, Mary, the desert, the garden, the water of life, the purifying fires of Love and the summit of mystical contemplation, Mount Carmel. In this session, we will explore these themes from their writings, particularly from St Teresa's book The Interior Castle.

Julienne is a psychologist, Jungian analyst and spiritual director. She teaches at Sarum College, Salisbury and is on the team at St Marylebone Healing and Counselling Centre. She teaches and writes on Jungian psychology and Carmelite spirituality, as well as co-leading study retreats to Spain. She is the author of 'Towards Mystical Union' (2003, St Paul's), a modern commentary on St Teresa of Avila's classic text on prayer, 'The Interior Castle'.
